The overall value of agricultural production set a new record last year. It's grown from 6.9 billion in 2006 to 8.51 in 2007. Four of the top five crops--apples, milk, wheat and potatoes experienced record gains in 2007.While farmers did have good gains, they continue to face escaling costs to grow their crops and raise their livestock.

The Seattle City Council passes legislation that puts limits on house size. Council Members say the McMansions overwhelm other homes in many neighborhoods. The legislation will limit size of a home on a lot, protect neighbors from being overshadowed, limit doors that face a street and reduce the number of homes on sloped lots.

A Spokane High School Student is in jail after calling in a death threat that forced school officials to cancel class. Police say the teen left a message on another female students phone threatening to kill her and her brother, and left a false name to get another student in trouble. The student says it was just a prank.

Many local say they’re having a tough time supporting their favorite candidates. They’ve proudly placed their McCain or Obama signs in their front yards—only to have them stolen. Officer Kelly Parsons with the Walla Walla Police Department says stealing a campaign sign is the same thing as walking onto someone’s yard and stealing a fountain—and it’s punished in the same exact way. ***punishable/…if we caught the people who are stealing the signs they would be issued a citation and required to appear before court and then the judge would determine the fine and if jail time is involved…/*** Officer Parsons says catching the offenders is very difficult. ***night/…I don’t know exactly what time of day the signs are coming up missing but it’s typically at night because criminals like to work in the cover of darkness…/*** A time when officers are the most busy. Parsons says while they would like to catch those who are guilty of the misdemeanor crimes, officers have to prioritize and handle the most serious offenses first.
 
Abandoned Baby Finds Home With Estranged Father PDF Print E-mail

A home is found for the baby left on the steps of a Western Washington church. The father of the baby—along with his mother will take care of little Mariah Verle Stevens. He says he didn’t even know his former girlfriend was carrying his child. The baby was abandoned just a week ago and spent the night alone in 49-degree temperatures wrapped only in a beach towel.
