Hayden Lake, ID-

Two people from a Hayden Lake Idaho church camp were killed in a motorcycle crash.

The Kootenai County sheriff's office says 64-year-old Virginia L. Acker of Pasco, Wash., and 40-year-old Gary E. Otterness of Onalaska, Wash., were found dead Monday night along Hayden Lake Road.

They had been reported missing after they failed to return Sunday evening to Camp MiVoden, which is described on its website at a Christian summer camp and retreat.

San Francisco-

Attorneys for death row inmate Cal Colburn Brown have now filed with the federal court of appeals in hopes of getting a stay of execution before next Friday.

 

Washington State attorneys said the Brown’s defense team has filed with the US  9^th circuit court of appeals after losing his last appeal with the Washington State Supreme Court.

 

Brown is scheduled to die by lethal injection on September 10^th for the 1991 torture and murder of Holly Washa of Burien.

Milton-Freewater-

Milton-Freewater police are warning parents and student to be careful of suspicious vehicles around local schools.

 

The Milton-Freewater school district sent a safety alert home with students warning them of suspicious vehicles after a student was approached on Tuesday morning and told school officials about the encounter with a mini van.

 

No Crime has been alleged in the case. The exact make and model of the van is unknown but the driver was described as an older white male with gray hair and mustache who was joined by an older female.

Walla Walla-

This week has seen students in multiple communities be involved in accidents near their schools.

 

In Walla Walla Thursday,  2 Pioneer Middle School students were hit by a motorist as they were walking to the bus stop, both were treated and released from Providence St. Mary Medical Center.

 

In Kennewick on Wednesday, a 10-year-old girl was hit in a crosswalk near her school in a hit and run accident. Kennewick police say they are looking for 1998 to 2004 white Ford Truck with a Canopy. The truck may also be missing a piece of it’s grill from the right headlight and license plate due to the accident.

 

The girl suffered a minor concussion and a black-eye but was back in school on Thursday.

Spokane-

The Spokane County Sheriff’s deputy who shot and killed a Spokane Pastor on his own property last week still has not been interviewed.

 

Deputy Brian Hirzel responded to a prowling call at the nursery and home of 74-year-old Scott Creach when the deputy shot Creach who was out on the property looking for the prowler last week.

 

The Presidents of the Spokane Sheriff’s Association told KREM TV that scientific studies show that it is best to wait 72 hours to interview officers involved in a shooting. But former Spokane County prosecutor Jim Sweetser says he thinks that is to long.

"Once 48 hours has transpired, you really lost the benefit of any immediate investigation" said Sweetser.

 

The Spokane Police Department, who is handling the investigation and will get their chance to interview the deputy on Friday.
